This picture is one of the most famous photographs taken a the very beginning of the War of resistance against Japan. Life Magazine claimed that it was viewed by 136 million readers through the whole network of publications under the Hearst Group. The picture was taken by H. S. “Newsreel” Wong (Wang Haisheng - 王海升), a Chinese photographer with the Hearst Metronone News. This picture became an iconic representation of the Sino-Japanese war. Up to this day, ot is being used on many  web sites to "give a face" to war and its brutality.
