Note(s)The memorial for the Chinese soldiers killed during the 1932 conflict was located in the military headquarters (Song-Hu siling bu) in Longhua. The main hall was renamed "1.28 memorial hall" (一·二八纪念堂) to honor the military victims of the conflict. The portrait of the 18 main officers killed were displayed on the walls of the hall. The hall was destroyed by the Japanese army in 1937. Source: 上海名镇志 >> 沪上佛教胜地 >> 龙华镇 >> 弹丸小镇军政要地 http://www.shtong.gov.cn/node2/node71994/node72081/node72096/node72142/userobject1ai77663.html Original text: 一· 二八纪念堂 原址在国民党淞沪警备司令部旧址内。纪念堂本为警备司令部大礼厅，民国21年“一·二八抗战”前后，淞沪警备司令戴戟与十九路军蒋光鼐、蔡廷锴等高级将领曾在此筹划抗战大计。战后，为纪念战役中牺牲的全体抗日将士，遂将大厅改建为一·二八纪念堂。民国22年6月动工，8月10日行落成典礼。堂内四壁悬挂参加“淞沪之战”的高级将领画像、阵亡将士遗像、作战图表和名家所绘抗战油画17幅，并有各界赠送的匾额、对联等。纪念堂碑文为戴戟撰写。抗日战争全面爆发以前，每逢1月28日国耻纪念日对外开放。堂外还有一·二八纪念园，占地约1000平方米，园内建纪念亭一座。民国26年“八·一三”后，日军入占，纪念堂、园、亭碑俱毁。纪念堂碑文： 堂以一·二八名，纪念淞沪抗日之战也。日本自明季以来，为寇海疆，史不绝书。逮甲午挫衅，我遂一蹶不振。民国二十年秋九月十八日，沈阳变起，辽、吉、黑亡，不两周年，而热河失，而榆、滦陷，而长城内外，胡骑纵横矣。一·二八之役，当沈变之后四阅月，舆情敌忾，若决江河；明耻争存，人孰肯后。先是我十九路军，移卫畿辅。戟受命危难，警备淞沪，櫜革健鞭弭，惟期效死。是役也，闸北、吴淞、江湾、庙行、大场，血战三十有四日，赖先总理威灵、全民族决心，以齿报齿，以目还目。若衡以近代战争，国力殊不逮，然肝脑涂地，牺牲过当者，非无故也。回首经年，痛定思痛。堂之东偏，盖战前与蒋、蔡诸君子决策也。爰爰陋简，略加丹垩。蒐集当时殉国者之统计与作战图籍，陈之一室，以备观览。夫九·一八之不忘，然后一·二八之战可纪；一·二八之不忘，然后九·一八之痛弥深。敢志沉哀，勉尽一息。至于庙貌昭忠，观感为继者，尚待来叶于无穷期。中华民国二十二年六月淞沪警备司令旌德戴戟。
