Obituary: Michael (Misha) Melnikoff Born In Harbin, Manchuria, November 20, 1908, of Russian émigré parents. Died in Santa Cruz, CA, Dec. 6, 2006. Michael moved to Shanghai, China in 1931 where he was the city's best-known portrait photographer for over 20 years, before moving to Montreal, Canada in 1952 where he continued in his chosen profession until he and his late wife, Fania, retired and moved to San Francisco In 1972. He is survived by his sons, Robert of Los Altos Hills; Victor of Montreal, Canada; and George of Santa Cruz; four grandchildren: Claire Melnikoff, Paula Melnikoff Quinn (Robert), Patricia Melnikoff Stern (Harry) and Mikhael Melnikoff; and six great-grandchildren. Michael lived for 97 years, through both World Wars, through the most interesting and sometimes trying years of the 20th Century.
