This collection of shapefiles represents the changes of provincial boundaries and names in Republican China (1912-1949). There were five different configurations during the Republican era.
The shapefiles were prepared using QGIS and are available as a QGIS .gpkg file ready for import into any GIS software [Provinces_ROC.zip]. Alternatively, if you are more comfortable with .shp files, you will find the same set of layers by period under "Prov_YYYY_YYY" zipped file.
The vector layers come with the following fields that are repeated across all maps, regardless of the period. The field columns include the following:
