註文The old Sassoon Firm founded by Edward David Sassoon in 1845. In 1872, his son Elias David Sassoon set up a new Sassoon Co., dealing in imported cloth, real estate, insurance, etc. With abundant funds at its disposal, it had many subsidiaries. Shown in the picture is the new Sassoon Co. on the corner of the Bund and Nanjing Road.
