Note(s)The Shanghai North Railway Station was built on the Shanghai-Nanjing line (or Huning line 滬寧). The ground-breaking ceremony was held in March 1897 and the construction of the first section soon started. But the second one was not started until 1902 due to the lack of funds and it was completed in 1907 with shared capital (Sino-foreigner), and it became an important factor for the development of the Zhabei (Chapei) area. The station was destroyed several times due to fighting. Nowadays it is the main Shanghai Railway Station.
